![]() ![]() It also took Morgause pretty long to realize that Britt was a girl and not actually King Arthur. A little too late in my eyes but everyone forgave her for taking her sweet time to figuring out the puzzle. Once she finally stopped moping around and drinking wine constantly, she went after Morgause to save her people. It also took her a while to realize that they were trying to fight this magic. Especially after she just got these people to join her. To her annoyance, Britt doesn't quite like how her guards are acting in her presence. She kind of seems like an Enchantress because she's using magic in order to persuade Britt's people to her side. Which, yeah, can seem pretty weird since it has been a while since I read the previous book but it was very easy to pick things back up again.īritt is still living the life of King Arthur but she has a new obstacle to overcome. Luckily for me, I didn't feel lost or confused with what was going on in this world. So, with zero hesitation, I jumped straight into Enchanted. Not that I regret it, but I didn't really want to redive back into the first book. So it was kind of weird when I found out I never continued with the series until now. I don't even think I even wrote a review for it either. ![]() ![]() ![]() I last read the first book in this series back in 2017. ![]()

Because the crimes at the heart of the novel repulse some readers, a small vocal coterie of critics has lambasted Morrison's work as soap opera, a "blackface holocaust novel," and a revamped Heart of Darkness. In rebuttal, she has insisted, "It's not my job to make black peoples' values acceptable to society as a whole." Rather, Morrison chooses to marvel that slaves who were brutalized beyond endurance were able to function as well as they did, especially after emancipation, when their expectations were high but their social station reflected little change from plantation days. Beloved, which is classified as historical fiction, gothic horror story, and bildungsroman (coming-of-age novel), demonstrates Toni Morrison's skill in penetrating the unconstrained, unapologetic psyches of numerous characters who shoulder the horrific burden of slavery's hidden sins. ![]() ![]() ***Authors' Note***It's possible to only read the Calloway Sisters spin-off series without reading the Addicted series, but you MUST read Fuel the Fire (Calloway Sisters #3) before reading Long Way Down (Calloway Sisters #4).
